Information is Beautiful

I also read the book 'Information is Beautiful' by David McCandless

I really liked the book I thought that there was a lot of interesting visuals in there and it really grasped simplicity, I picked out a few that where my favourites and one that I thought might help me in my own work.

The squares are interesting in this info graphic above as they represent the scale of the content and the colours act as a key for separate things, and I think that having them all together shows you a good comparison.

A similar piece is the one below the size of the circle represent its popularity, and then it runs along a scale of beneficial and un-benoficial.

The information below again the size of the circle represents how popular it is, this time the information is in a venn diagram, which goes horizontally across two spreads whereas above is vertically.

This is an interesting version of a bar chart/ timescale, the colours and peaks really stand out, each colour represents a different idea.

And this is a nice side by side comparison, which is simple but effective.

In this one there are different illustrations (minimal) that explain different ideas of in the brain.

I have seen this one previously and I think it is rather well known, it is very complex full of information but the way it is formed makes it easy to read and understand a vast amount of information, I think its really successful.

There is also a website,
http://www.informationisbeautiful.net

On the website there where some categories that I found particularly helpful for this brief one being 'climate'.
