Brief 6: Chinese Zodiac Calendar
I wanted to do a brief that I could do over christmas, however I didn't want to do the typical christmas card brief, I didn't think this really interested or suited me and so I was actually inspired by a piece of print I have on my wall that I got from Egypt, its on a piece of papyrus and it is my astrological sign of Sagittarius surrounded by relevant Egyptian gods, and I also have my name written in hieroglyphics, (ancient Egypt has always fascinated me too and I think I am so aware of it from my childhood) and so in the shop where I bought it there where other pieces that had the whole Egyptian zodiac calendar on it, and so this made me think about calendars and New Year. I though about another type of calendar that was different to our western astrological calendar and this brought me to the Chinese zodiac, in which years are represented by animals (which I like anyway) and so I decided I wanted to create a calendar that showed the Chinese zodiac for this years new year.
I have also never worked with a calendar format and so I thought that could be an interesting format to try. As well as this I would be able to explore another culture.
Timescale 1-2weeks (again allowing time for production- if I am going to use traditional print techniques, if not 1 week will be enough time)
